Women Leaders Welcomes New Treasurer to Its Board of Trustees
Women Leaders is delighted to welcome Sarah Montgomery as its new Treasurer, bringing with her a wealth of financial expertise, a passion for supporting others and a strong commitment to helping people achieve their ambitions.
As the owner of her own accountancy practice, Montgomery Rox, Sarah has built her career around giving people the confidence to understand their finances and make informed decisions. Working closely with business owners, particularly those with neurodiverse differences, she believes that financial clarity can be transformative, enabling individuals and organisations alike to grow with confidence.
Joining the Board of Trustees marks a new opportunity for Sarah to use those skills to support a cause she feels strongly about.
“I wanted to find a role where I could give back and make a meaningful difference,” she explains. “Supporting people to reach their goals is something I am incredibly passionate about, and Women Leaders is an organisation that genuinely empowers and champions women to achieve their ambitions. Becoming Treasurer felt like the perfect opportunity to contribute my skills while supporting such an inspiring cause.”
While her professional expertise made the Treasurer role a natural fit, it was the people behind the organisation that ultimately inspired her to get involved.
“As an accountant, I knew I had the skills and experience to support the charity from a financial perspective. What really appealed to me was the opportunity to work alongside such an inspiring and dedicated Board of Trustees. Being able to contribute my expertise while helping the organisation grow and achieve its objectives is incredibly rewarding.”
She believes charities such as Women Leaders have an important role to play in creating opportunities and building confidence, helping women realise their full potential.
“It should never be about men versus women,” she says. “It should be about recognising individual strengths, celebrating talent and ensuring people have the opportunity to succeed. Charities like Women Leaders play a vital role in creating those opportunities, building confidence and helping women achieve their goals. It’s an inspiring charity, and I’m excited to be part of its journey.”
As Treasurer, Sarah will oversee the charity’s financial stewardship, helping ensure Women Leaders remains well positioned to continue expanding its reach and supporting even more women across the region.
She believes that strong governance is fundamental to any successful charity.
“Strong financial stewardship and good governance provide the foundation for sustainable growth. Understanding your numbers gives you a clear picture of where you are and what is possible. With that foundation in place, organisations can make informed decisions, plan for the future and
maximise their impact. Ultimately, it enables Women Leaders to support more women, create more opportunities and make an even greater difference.”
Looking ahead, she is excited to build relationships with her fellow trustees and play an active role in the organisation’s future.”I’m really looking forward to working alongside the Board, supporting informed decision-making through clear financial reporting and helping Women Leaders continue to grow its impact.”
Her appointment further strengthens the expertise within the Women Leaders Board as the charity continues its mission to inspire, connect and champion women in leadership, creating opportunities for individuals to build confidence, develop their careers and fulfil their potential.
“We’re delighted to welcome Sarah to the Board of Trustees as our new Treasurer,” comments Women Leaders Chair, Dr Julie Mills OBE. “Her professional expertise, combined with her passion for helping others develop confidence and achieve their ambitions, makes her a fantastic addition to Women Leaders. We look forward to working with her as we continue to grow our impact and support even more women across the region.”
